The 62nd German-American Volksfest is a free community event at Grafenwoehr Camp Algier, August 4-6. The Volksfest is a family-style festival featuring live music performance from American rock band Hoobastank on Saturday night!
The festival fosters German and American friendship and culture - living, working and celebrating together. Volksfest draws American soldiers, families, civilians, retirees and Germans living in the surrounding areas of USAG Bavaria. Carnival rides, a beer tent, German and American food, displays of German and American Army equipment, retail booths, music and dancing are highlights of Volksfest.

How much does it cost?
Entrance into the fest is free. Food, beverages and rides are available for purchase.

Getting to the Volksfest:
·Access to the installation: 100% identification check of all occupants will occur. Occupants over the age of 16 must provide an authorized government issued photo ID to the guard to be allowed entry. Children under the age of 16 will be granted access if accompanied by a family member or legal guardian of legal age (18).
o The following documents are authorized for access:
o Valid passports
o Valid personal ID card from 28 European Union countries
o Installation pass
o Department of Defense identification cards
o Temporary German ID
The following documents are not authorized:
o Travel documents
o U.S. passport card
o Driver's licenses
o Residence permits
o Refugee IDs/Substitute ID
o Fake/manipulated ID cards
Shuttle Services:
o Please Note: Pets are not allowed on shuttles. On-post parking is NOT within walking distance to the festival and require a shuttle ride to the festival. We recommend not bringing your pets.
o Only small foldable strollers will be allowed on shuttle buses.
Off-post Shuttles
We highly recommend visitors utilize the designated off-post parking areas and shuttle bus services located at:
-Former German post office (on Alte Amberger Straße)
-Marienplatz (in front of the Grafenwoehr town hall)
-Diessfurter Straße (next to the Grafenwoehr outdoor pool)
-Gruenderzentrum (B-299, across from Gate 6)
COST: Off-post shuttle bus service will cost €2 per person for a round trip. Children up to 14 years are free.
**Shuttles will begin at 10:30 a.m. and will run until 1 a.m. Last pickup to the fest is at 10 p.m. and last return to the parking area is at 1 a.m.
On-post Shuttles
- We highly recommend U.S. Department of Defense affiliated personnel utilize the on-post shuttle bus service that will run from the Tower Barracks (Grafenwoehr) Exchange and the Rose Barracks (Vilseck) Exchange to the festival area.
- On-post shuttles are for Department of Defense ID card holders.
- On Friday and Saturday, shuttle bus service begins at 11 a.m. and will run until 2 a.m. On Sunday, the shuttle begins at 11 a.m. and will run until 1 a.m.
- Pets are not allowed on shuttles.
Personal Vehicles:
o All vehicle traffic attending the Volksfest will enter Tower Barracks via Gate 6 off B299. Gate 6 will accept vehicles attending the Volksfest starting at 10 a.m. Vehicles that try to enter prior to 10 a.m. to attend the Volksfest will be turned away.
o All vehicles and persons are subject to search. Cleared vehicles will be allowed to proceed on a designated route to the Volksfest parking area. Shuttle buses will provide transport to the festival grounds.
o Limited handicap parking is available on site. Please inform the Traffic Control Point staff and have your placard/decal available.
Prohibited Items:
o Large bags, to include rucksacks or backpacks (diaper bags will be allowed). No larger than 20cm x 20cm x 30cm.
o Any/all weapons, to include knives or any type of cutting device or multi-tool, impact weapons, air soft guns, any type of chemical irritants (pepper spray).
o Beverage containers of any type to include water bottles, alcoholic (canned or bottled), energy drinks, soda, etc. (excludes baby bottles)
o Any non-prescription drugs and/or drug paraphernalia.
o Any type of fireworks or incendiary devices.
o Any type of cooler or picnic basket.
Live on the installation?
o For day-to-day access it's recommended to avoid Gate 6. If you need to sign in a visitor for regular day-to-day access, sign them in at Gate 1 on Rose Barracks. For general installation access, you can still use Gate 3 (Tower Barracks) and Gate 20 (Netzaberg).
o Heading to the Volksfest? Use shuttle buses at the Rose Barracks and Tower Barracks Exchanges.
